Beals ice cream has many locations and I've been happy at all of them. This location is in the same lot as a gas station on a corner. It has a small lot but there's parking available on the street. Lots of favors and sizes. The kiddie one scoop is pretty big. I had peppermint stick ice cream and it was yum. Service was quick and very friendly. No complaints

Meh... I love all ice cream but I wasn't a huge fan of the chocolate, it tasted like sugar free. Price seemed a little high but probably just right for the area.

cheapest lobster roll in town. costs $9. lite mayo mixed with fresh tasting lobster meat in a hot dog bun. the bun is cold (not buttered/grilled like other places) and it all comes wrapped in foil. don't sleep on the ice cream here. i had a banana cream pie frappe (that's Acadian for "milk shake", ayuh) and i think i tasted real banana. in this crazy, mixed-up world we live in, i'll take all the real bananas i can get.

Don't get the frappe unless you want to pay $5 for flavored milk!!! Asked them to redo it and it still just tasted like flavored milk - not thick at all. Got my money back - going back to Cali disappointed.

The sorbet is incredible. I've only ever seen two flavors there: Lemon, and raspberry. Both flavors have little bits of the fruit in them, and somehow they are as smooth and rich as ice cream. A must-try. Their ice cream is very, very good, but not the best I've had, and their waffle cones are average. After having Gelato Fiasco's waffle cones, all waffle cones must be compared to theirs, and these are found wanting in comparison. There's tons of stuff on the menu, such as giant cookie ice cream sandwiches, sundaes, etc, that I haven't had the opportunity to try. The ice cream store/shack/thing itself is attached to a Shell gas station, but it doesn't really matter. They have plastic chairs nailed in rows to 2x4s in the area lot that also serves as a place to form a line, and it's beautiful in its utilitarianism. Pull up here in the peak of the summer and you'll see kids with bathing suits with heaping ice cream cones, old folk with their single scoop treats, and everything in between, all enjoying a cold and delicious treat. It's a delight. I judge a place strongly based on how friendly and welcoming they are, and Beal's is just average in this respect. Again, I must draw a comparison. Red's Dairy Freeze, which is right down the road, is über-super-friendly, and while Beal's folks are nice, I just don't get that nice fuzzy feeling I get from going to Red's. They also only take cash. Boo. I love Beal's, I just don't love love Beal's, you know?

I went here because they're supposed the best ice cream in the Portland area. Their milkshake was really good (got their cookies and cream), it was nice and thick but I got their coffee ice cream and it was really icy and not so great. I do like how they give generous scoops of ice cream!
